More vegetable theater
It seems that if you start Fava beans around now, in this part of Texas, they may keep going all through the winter and produce again in the spring. And they’re neat looking, too.
I think I’ll put fava beans where the squash were. Seems like they need a similar growing arrangement to the tomatoes, with a vertical support they can be staked to or twisted around. I can probably just put up a bamboo tripod over each plant or section of plants; I don’t think I’m up to building another whole wooden trellis just now, and one wouldn’t even fit in the old squash spot anyway.
I see people selling their extra bamboo on Craigslist all the time. After all, it’s so invasive that once you’ve got any of it growing you’ll soon be begging people to take it off your hands.
